The challenge

Kurigram.info is a Bengali-language news and local directory site for Kurigram district in northern Bangladesh. It runs on WordPress with a classified listing plugin, and most of its traffic comes from local people searching for clinics, doctors, bus schedules, offices and government information. Before the work, Search Console showed 1,160 indexed pages against 2,950 not indexed, hundreds of listing titles written in English only, no FAQ or breadcrumb schema, and mobile pages so heavy that PageSpeed could not give them a score. From 15 August to 11 September 2026 the site brought 2,730 Google clicks.

The goal: make Kurigram.info the first result for everyday searches about the district, in Bengali, on phones.

What we did

01 · SEO tags and schema. Rewrote 138 page titles and meta descriptions Bengali-first in Rank Math, fixed two broken breadcrumb names, added FAQ schema to the nine upazila pages and set 213 missing image alt texts.

02 · Indexing cleanup. Reviewed 2,950 non-indexed URLs. Most were crawl waste from sort and filter parameters, duplicate pages and directory listings. Added 301 redirects for dead and duplicate pages, fixed 404s and asked Google to re-check the breadcrumb and not-found errors.

03 · Content people already search for. Built a 200-topic content plan from Search Console gaps, then published guides and free tools: the 2027 government holiday list, a land area calculator, a Bangla calendar, post codes, thana and OC numbers, land fees and job news. Added related links and a sources block to 130 pages.

04 · Speed and mobile. Converted 7,572 images to WebP and saved 1.08 GB, set up LiteSpeed caching, lazy loading and deferred scripts, and fixed the mobile menu. Mobile PageSpeed went from no score to 84.

The results

• 4,330 Google clicks in the last 28 days, up from 2,730 (+59%). Over the last 3 months clicks rose from 6,920 to 10,100 (+46%).
• Impressions grew from 96K to 138K in 28 days (+44%), and click-through rate improved from 2.8% to 3.1%.
• Average position improved from 6.2 to 5.9 across the whole site, with key pages moving up: Central Clinic 4.4 to 3.7, Update Diagnostic 3.6 to 3.4, bus schedule 4.6 to 4.2.
• Existing pages gained real clicks: Dhaka to Kurigram bus schedule 155 to 274, Update Diagnostic Center 102 to 223, Central Clinic 189 to 249, Seba Clinic 170 to 218, Haque Diagnostic 120 to 165.
• New pages ranked from day one: government holiday list 2027 brought 166 clicks and 5,800 impressions in its first weeks, Kurigram job news 71 clicks, the land area calculator 66 clicks and 13,031 impressions, thana and OC list 49, post codes 48.
• Daily clicks almost tripled across the year: 64 a day from October 2025 to April 2026, 97 a day in the 28 days before the work, 155 a day in the 28 days after, and 194 a day in the first ten days of October 2026.
